About The Conference

So you know your stuff. You’ve been working with pattern libraries, build tools, SMCSS, BEM, and HTTP/2 and Flexbox and SVGs. But what we often don’t see is the pitfalls and traps other web designers are running into, and how to prevent that these issues will cause massive delays in your projects.

The conference will provide you with a comprehensive roadmap to navigate through the deep trenches of front-end and UX today. CSS Grid layout, Service Workers, CSS Custom Properties, maintenance issues, performance optimization, UX and psychology, design workflow, tips on establishing and maintaining design systems, and hands-on techniques to produce resilient, fast and responsive websites.

In our third Smashing Conference in San Francisco6, our speakers will be sharing practical front-end and UX techniques, the pitfalls they ran into, lessons they’ve learned and the workflows they’ve chosen to stay efficient. Expect an intimate, hands-on conference experience, with lots of learning, sharing, and networking along the way.

Palace of Fine Arts San Francisco7
SmashingConf San Francisco8 our two-day event taking place in one of the most beautiful areas of San Francisco. If you’ve always wanted to visit the city, or just happen to live around the corner, this is just the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. (Image credit9)

We love exploring how designers and developers work and how actual problems are solved—ideas and techniques that actually worked, or failed in real-life projects, and why exactly they failed and what decisions were made instead. All those things that help us make smarter design decisions and build better products, faster.

That’s exactly what the conference will be about. 2 conference days, 1 track, hands-on workshops10 and 14 speakers11, taking place on April 17–18, 2018 at the beautiful and iconic Palace of Fine Arts.

Diversity matters: at Smashing Conferences, we care about providing different perspectives and views, inviting people of different industries, origins, cultures and gender. We embrace respect and tolerance with our code of conduct12 — no disrespect will be tolerated. Super early-bird tickets are available today.13

Our Line-up

For this year’s line-up, we invited experts who have worked in small as well as large companies. People who spend day and night working and playing with web technologies. It doesn’t get more practical than that, does it? Get ready, set, go:
